History
Diesel locomotives have been built in Kiel for 100 years: from 1921 to 1994 this production was under the management of Krupp – since 1955 with the name “MaK”. Later, first Siemens and then Vossloh became the owners of this traditional development and production facility.
In 2009, the engineering office was spun off from Vossloh’s core team under the LKM brand. LKM develops and designs modern rail vehicles and their systems.
In order to be able to supply its customers not only with concepts but also with vehicles, LKM took over parts of the production facilities from Ex-Krupp – MaK in 2020 and can thus offer engineering services and workshop work from a single source. With 15 km of trouble-free test track and all essential facilities for production, type tests and commissioning of rail vehicles of all kinds, LKM is well and efficiently positioned today.
